Custom self-paced module framework
A self-paced module is a digital, student facing self-guided learning experience through which students' progress at their own pace.
Individual topic-based modules feature custom animation, embedded assessment, and comprehensive reporting on student confidence and understanding. Topic-based modules can be chained together to create a unit—building on related topics and bound by the same look and feel.

A completely new framework…
It began with the need to cut down on the time involved to create bespoke interactives, which are labor intensive, excessively time consuming for each discipline, and inherently risky on all fronts.
The entire process was rethought and reimagined with each team (curriculum, design, assessment, dev, and QA) weighing in with their priorities and preferences. For example, curriculum wanted to know exact parameters on the content so there weren’t constantly asked to cut copy during the design or dev phases or asked to write new copy as the project progressed. Design wanted a comprehensive grid system to govern the layout and global elements that could be easily updated to reflect new brand details like fonts, colors, and logos. The assessment team requested the option to provided students with second changes on certain questions and partial credit. And the developers wanted a prebuilt library of components that would be easy to implement in predefined sprints without risk.

The results…
The framework greatly facilitated the creation of new modules in a manner that is tightly controlled and free of uncertainty. Gone are the days when:
developers are surprised by something provided by design
the writer is asked to trim text to fit or provide new text
the designer is asked to revise an approved design to make it easier to program
QA encounters major errors
the project manager has to repeatedly revise the production schedule
Since it launched, the self-paced module framework has been a great success that has been used for over 40 modules.
